DESCRIPTION:La Galerie Winkler est heureuse d'accueillir la 5ème expositio
 n personnelle de l'artiste australienne Tania Wursig.\n"Endangered" est le
  titre provocateur de cette nouvelle exposition.\n"Nous vivons dans un mon
 de où le terme "En danger" est malheureusement devenu trop familier. Notr
 e habitat est en danger\, les océans sont menacés et de nombreuses espè
 ces sont en voie d'extinction. Nous aussi\, en tant qu'espèce\, sommes de
 venus «endangered»\, non pas en nombre\, mais dans notre essence. Je pen
 se que la perte de culture\, de traditions et de notre lien avec la terre 
 est la plus grande menace pour l'humanité. Quelque chose qui est encore t
 rès présent dans les dernières cultures indigènes du monde.\nC'est peu
 t-être cette "perte" de connexion qui a créé le monde "Endangered" dans
  lequel nous vivons aujourd'hui.\nAvec cette exposition\, je me suis conce
 ntré sur la culture tahitienne\, ses habitants et son mode de vie menacé
  depuis longtemps."\n'HA’AMANA’ORA’A I TE MAU TUPUNA' - En mémoire 
 des ancêtres\n\nLiving in a world where the term 'Endangered' has sadly b
 ecome all too familiar. Our habitat is endangered\, the oceans are under t
 hreat and many species are facing extinction. We too as a species have bec
 ome 'Endangered'\, not in numbers\, but in our essence. I feel the greates
 t threat to humanity is loss of culture\, tradition and our connection wit
 h the earth. Something that is still very present in the world's remaining
  indigenous cultures.\nIt is perhaps this 'loss' of connection that has cr
 eated the 'Endangered' world we live in today.\nWith this exhibition I hav
 e placed my focus on the Tahitian culture\, people and a way of life that 
 has long been under threat.\nThe piece titled 'HA’AMANA’ORA’A I TE M
 AU TUPUNA’ (In Memory of the Ancestors) is intended as a tribute to the 
 ancestors. The background is an assemblage of vintage post colonial photog
 raphy of female Tahitian ancestors. It is with great respect I use this vi
 ntage imagery of Tahitian Vahine Tupuna. They represent an exploited innoc
 ence\, and in many\, a sense of vulnerability and shame ..... the confusio
 n of colonial rule.\nThe portrait I painted over this ground is of the con
 temporary Vahine\, proud and strong. Her translucence and sepia tone symbo
 lise the link to her Tupuna. A memory and tribute to her ancestry\, cultur
 e and Fenua.... these background images were captured at the cusp of colon
 ial influence and exploitation\, a mark in time that changed their world f
 orever.
